Constitution of the Japanese Society of Forensic Radiology and Imaging (JSFRI)
Enacted on March 11, 2017
Chapter 1. General Provisions

(Name)
Article 1.
This society shall be called the Japanese Society of Forensic Radiology and Imaging (abbreviated as JSFRI).
The English name shall be The Japanese Society of Forensic Radiology and Imaging (JSFRI).

(Secretariat)
Article 2.
The secretariat of the Society shall be located at:
Department of Forensic Medicine, Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo
7-3-1 Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Japan

Chapter 2. Objectives and Activities

(Objectives)
Article 3.
The purpose of the Society is to promote progress in research and diagnostic practice in forensic radiology and imaging among its members.

(Activities)
Article 4.
To achieve the objectives stated above, the Society shall carry out the following activities:
(1) Organizing academic meetings such as the Forensic Imaging Study Meeting.
(2) Promoting collaboration and cooperation with related academic societies both in Japan and abroad.
(3) Conducting other activities necessary to achieve the objectives of the Society.

Chapter 3. Membership

(Categories of Membership)
Article 5.
Membership of the Society shall consist of the following categories:
1. Regular Members: Physicians or researchers in forensic medicine, radiology, or related fields who support the objectives of the Society, have submitted an application form prescribed by the Society to the Secretariat, and have paid the annual membership fee.
2. Supporting Members: Individuals or organizations who support the objectives of the Society, have submitted the prescribed application form, and have paid the supporting membership fee.
3. Student Members: Undergraduate students in medicine or related fields who support the objectives of the Society, have submitted the prescribed application form with the recommendation of their academic supervisor.

(Membership Fees)
Article 6.
1. The annual membership fees shall be as follows:
・Regular Members: ¥1,000
・Supporting Members: ¥10,000 per unit (one or more units)
・Student Members: Free of charge
2. Membership fees once paid shall not be refunded.

(Rights of Members)
Article 7.
Members shall have the following rights:
1. To submit papers to the official journal of the Society.
2. To receive newsletters and other publications of the Society.
3. To attend general meetings, academic meetings, and other events organized by the Society.
4. To present at academic meetings.

(Duties of Members)
Article 8.
Members shall respect the resolutions of the General Assembly and shall pay membership fees as stipulated.

(Loss of Membership)
Article 9.
Membership shall be terminated under the following circumstances:
1. Resignation.
2. Non-payment of membership fees for two consecutive years.
3. Declaration of incompetence or quasi-incompetence.
4. Death, disappearance, or dissolution (for organizations).
5. Expulsion.

(Resignation)
Article 10.
Members wishing to resign shall submit a written notice of resignation to the Secretariat.

(Expulsion)
Article 11.
1. If a member damages the reputation of the Society or acts contrary to its objectives, the President may, with the approval of the Executive Committee and the General Assembly, expel such member.
2. Before expulsion, the President shall provide the member concerned with an opportunity to present an explanation, either in writing or orally.

Chapter 4. Officers

(Officers)
Article 12.
The Society shall have the following officers:
(1) President – 1 person
(2) Executive Committee Members – 4 persons
(3) Auditors – 2 persons

(Election of Officers)
Article 13.
Officers shall be elected as follows:
Executive Committee Members shall be selected from among the members in accordance with separate regulations, approved by the General Assembly, and appointed accordingly.
The President shall be elected from among the Executive Committee Members.

(Duties of the President)
Article 14.
The President shall represent the Society and manage its affairs.

(Duties of the Executive Committee Members)
Article 15.
Executive Committee Members shall form the Executive Committee, deliberate and decide on matters necessary for the operation of the Society, and share responsibility for executing such decisions.

(Duties of the Auditors)
Article 16.
1. The Auditors shall audit the operations and financial accounts of the Society.
2. Auditors may attend Executive Committee meetings to express their opinions but shall not have voting rights.
3. Auditors shall report the results of their audits to the Executive Committee and the General Assembly and may convene the Executive Committee if necessary.

(Term of Office)
Article 17.
1. The term of office for all officers shall be three years, and reappointment shall not be precluded.
2. The term of office shall begin the day after the conclusion of the General Assembly at which the officer is elected and shall end at the conclusion of the General Assembly three years later.
3. The term of any officer elected as a replacement or additional member shall be the remainder of the predecessor’s or current member’s term.

Chapter 5. Meetings and Academic Conferences

(Executive Committee Meeting)
Article 18.
1. The Executive Committee shall be convened by the President at least once a year.
2. The President may invite any persons deemed necessary for the operation of the Society to attend the Executive Committee.
3. The Executive Committee shall be validly constituted with the attendance of a majority of the officers. Members who have expressed their opinions in writing in advance shall be deemed to have attended.

(General Assembly)
Article 19.
The General Assembly shall be held at least once a year and convened by the President.

(Academic Meeting)
Article 20.
An academic meeting shall be held at least once a year.

(Organizing Committee for Academic Meetings)
Article 21.
The organizers of academic meetings shall be determined by the Executive Committee.

(Duties of Organizers)
Article 22.
Organizers shall preside over the academic meetings.

(Official Journal)
Article 23.
The proceedings of academic meetings and other activities shall be published at least once a year in the Society’s official journal, The Japanese Journal of Forensic Radiology and Imaging, and distributed to members.

Chapter 6. Accounting

(Finances)
Article 24.
The expenses of the Society shall be covered by membership fees, grants, and other sources of income.

(Fiscal Year)
Article 25.
The fiscal year of the Society shall begin on January 1 and end on December 31 each year.

Chapter 7. Amendments

(Amendments to the Constitution)
Article 26.
Amendments to this Constitution shall require approval by a majority of the Regular Members present at the General Assembly, following deliberation by the Executive Committee.

(Supplementary Provisions)
1. Matters not specified in these Articles shall be determined separately as necessary for the operation of the Society.
2. These Articles shall come into effect on March 11, 2017.
